First Sock Club

Today's picture is of my Rockin Sock Club parcel which arrived today. The yarn is called My Blue Heaven. The colours are absolutely divine but the picture does it no justice at all.

The pattern has beads on it which is a technique I haven't used before so this sock will be a learning curve. Apparently the best way to put the beads on is to string them onto the yarn before starting knitting. The easiest way according to the experts is with a dental floss threader which is available in drug stores in the US. Not being in the US I was struggling a little bit because my local chemist does not stock anything like that. Boots wasn't much better. Luckily I found some on Ebay and as soon as it arrives then I can get started. I will wind the skein into 2 balls tomorrow and then the yarn is ready to go.

Plus there is the problem of finding a set of needles to use and deciding which sock I really need to finish first before I can free up the needles. So much for finishing everything before starting on something else. Bella's Mittens are still in progress but only because the circular needle I was working with wasn't playing properly and the yarn ended up stuck so I have ordered an Addi Tubo (my preferred needle) and once it arrives from Hong Kong the mittens are top of the list.

Twilight

Look at this fabulous pattern I found via Zoes's Knitting Bag which came from Subliminal Rabbit. She is such a talented lady. My daughter is a massive twilight fan so out of the monotony of sock knitting comes something different.

The sheet of paper is A4 sized so you can tell from that how big the ball of yarn is.

This is progress so far on Bella's Mittens. I couldn't find any chunky (US bulky) yarn anywhere in town in the right colour so I have gone for 2 strands of double knitting (US Worsted) knitted together. It is a nice quick knit so far.

The Scrapbook Drought Is Over

It was November when I last did a scrapbook layout. I have no idea why but at long last the drought is over. I was inspired by the Build A Page challenge on the Prima blog because it isn't overpowering and when you have gone a while without scrapping it takes a steady step to get back into it. It isn't the picture or the stash that I originally intended using but then it never happens like that does it?

Future Volleyball Player

Today's photo prompt on hsmshs is SPHERE

I was planning on using some bouncy balls the kids have with little animals in them but they are hidden away somewhere. Instead here is Daisy with a massive ball from Ikea. She can actually catch it with her front paws.

If you want a giggle then pop across to Kirsty's blog. I was cracked up yesterday.
